Monstrous Manifestations: 50 of SCP’s Most Disturbing Entities

41. SCP-965 – The Face In The Window

SCP-965, known as “The Face in the Window,” is a perplexing anomaly tied to framed windows. This manifestation presents itself as the shadowed visage of an individual with varying age, ranging from 10 to 55 years, appearing within the window frame. It only materializes when external lighting drops below 5 candelas, regardless of interior illumination. While SCP-965 is visible from outside the window, it consistently gazes into the room. When an instance of SCP-965-1 is destroyed, SCP-965 relocates to a new manifestation point, usually within a window frame.

Encounters with SCP-965 induce feelings of unease, nervousness, and paranoia among observers. Individuals within its view, even if obscured by curtains, experience these sensations. Experimentation revealed that subjects sleeping within its visual range endure unsettling dreams, often featuring pursuits, attacks, or torment, although without physical contact. After three to ten dream cycles, SCP-965 assumes a more malevolent expression, leading to symptoms like heartburn, abdominal pain, and bloody vomiting and excretions, attributed to heightened stress reactions.

Even after subjects are removed from SCP-965’s vicinity, they continue to report occasional glimpses of the face in their dreams or peripheral vision, along with lasting paranoia and sensations of being watched. SCP-965 exhibits signs of sentience, manifesting disappointment, irritation, anger, and even fear in various situations. Its silence remains constant, and it does not animate or interact physically. However, it can vanish and reappear in different poses, suggesting some level of control over its manifestation.

42. The Baiting: SCP-957

SCP-957, codenamed “Baiting,” is a mysterious humanoid entity currently under the Foundation’s containment in an undisclosed location in Kentucky. This enigmatic being stands approximately 2 meters tall and weighs 75 kilograms. SCP-957’s most striking feature is a large opening in its torso that reveals a void seemingly devoid of internal organs. It exhibits unconventional behavior, including resistance to containment and reluctance to cooperate during interviews and testing.

SCP-957 exhibits an anomalous behavior pattern. It seeks out residences inhabited by single individuals, designated SCP-957-1, and establishes residency. When an SCP-957-1 subject expires, SCP-957 dematerializes from its current location and reappears in the nearest suitable residence. During its time with SCP-957-1, the entity forces the individual’s body into the mysterious opening on its torso, resulting in significant physical and memory alterations in the victim. These changes include blindness from birth, fluency in Braille, and a false belief that SCP-957 is a close family member or intimate partner who suffered extensive burns.

On a monthly basis, SCP-957-1 lures unsuspecting individuals into the residence, entrapping them within a black, impenetrable spherical barrier for approximately five hours. After the barrier dissipates, the victim exhibits extreme physical alterations, such as the rearrangement of limbs, reptilian features, or organ disassembly. Depending on the outcome, SCP-957 either uses the remains to prepare a meal for SCP-957-1 or burns the body in the residence’s fireplace.

43. SCP-184 – The Architect

SCP-184, also known as “The Architect,” is a mysterious metallic object resembling a dodecahedron. Measuring 10 cm in both height and width, it features circular holes on each face and small spheres at its vertices. Composed of an unknown highly magnetic alloy, SCP-184 exhibits exceptional hardness similar to brass.

When introduced into an enclosed space, SCP-184 triggers a peculiar phenomenon where it expands the interior dimensions of the structure while leaving the exterior dimensions unaffected. This expansion begins approximately one hour after placement and progresses at a rate of several hundred meters each day. Initially, the expansion primarily affects the walls, causing rooms to grow substantially larger without altering their original height. This process continues until the initial room dimensions have tripled. Once this limit is reached, SCP-184 proceeds to generate entirely new rooms, replicating objects from within to furnish these spaces, maintaining consistency with the structure’s existing decor. However, as time passes, anomalies emerge, including objects composed of inappropriate materials, peculiarly shaped rooms, doors leading to blank walls, and labyrinthine hallways. These abnormalities intensify over time, rendering the interior structures increasingly bizarre and dysfunctional while the exterior dimensions remain unchanged. Removing SCP-184 does not reverse the changes but prevents the creation of additional structures.

44. SCP-457 – Burning Man

SCP-457, codenamed “Burning Man,” is a highly enigmatic entity composed entirely of flames. Its true nature and composition remain inscrutable, as it remains invisible and undetectable through conventional means. This entity exhibits various forms, starting as a small flame akin to a matchstick and evolving into a more complex, humanoid shape as it consumes additional fuel. Its intelligence appears to correlate with its size and available fuel sources.

When SCP-457 reaches a size comparable to that of a human, it consistently adopts a human-like form, shrouded in flames, and displays limited communication abilities. It can write messages by charring surfaces with its flames or communicate verbally through the manipulation of superheated air and the crackling of flames. SCP-457’s behavior primarily revolves around seeking larger fuel sources and spreading, occasionally displaying advanced tactics such as sabotaging fire-suppression systems and devising traps. It can also mimic behaviors and learn from its experiences.

45. SCP-179 – Sauelsuesor

SCP-179, designated as “Sauelsuesor,” is an enigmatic humanoid entity situated at a constant distance of approximately 40,000 km from the South polar region of the solar photosphere, seemingly orbiting around the center of the galaxy rather than the Sun. This entity presents as a human female, aged between twenty and forty years, completely covered in a matte black material, including her 34 km long hair, which is affected by solar wind. Intricate symbols resembling alchemical representations of the Sun and inner planets adorn her body.

Despite her distant and celestial location, SCP-179 appears to possess extraordinary observational capabilities, detecting and warning of impending threats to Earth from the far reaches of the solar system. Her behavior suggests a deep concern for the well-being of living beings under the Sun’s influence.

As for her origins, various headcanons exist, offering different explanations, including her identity as a young star, a former human, a creation of cosmic forces, or a guardian figure appointed by higher powers. Regardless of her origin, SCP-179 maintains a steadfast dedication to safeguarding the inhabitants of the solar system from cosmic threats and anomalies.

While SCP-179’s true personality remains elusive, she is portrayed as a loving and caring entity, deeply connected to her celestial surroundings and committed to her duty as a guardian. Her interactions with others vary across different narratives, from flirtations with cosmic entities to forming alliances with various characters and organizations for the greater good.

46. SCP-2317: The Enigmatic Door and Entity

SCP-2317, initially a 19th-century Massachusetts brownstone door, now designated “A Door to Another World,” was mystically altered by the Society of the Golden Arrow to serve as a portal to Universe-Kappa-Erikesh. This realm contains an entity, SCP-2317-K, of colossal proportions and immense significance to the Society. The door’s transformation involved thaumaturgical manipulation, enabling it to transport individuals to this alternate reality, where SCP-2317-K resides.

Following the Society of the Golden Arrow’s unintentional destruction of four chains that bound SCP-2317-K, their repeated attempts to repair the chains led to the organization’s financial collapse by 1922. The SCP Foundation subsequently took possession of SCP-2317, relocating it to Provisional Containment Area-17. In 1982, the door was transferred to Containment Area-179 in Pennsylvania, where it remains secured.

The significance of Universe-Kappa-Erikesh and SCP-2317-K remains a subject of great interest and concern for the Foundation, as the entity’s potential threat to reality necessitates strict containment and the maintenance of specific containment procedures to prevent a catastrophic scenario.

47. Stella – SCP-139: The Star-Eyed Anomaly

SCP-134, codenamed “Stella,” is a young girl who possesses a unique ocular anomaly, with her eyes replaced by starry voids resembling galaxies when viewed in darkness. This anomaly was discovered when she was abandoned as an infant in Yokohama, Japan, and she was later taken into SCP Foundation custody. Despite her unusual condition, Stella exhibits typical human biological requirements and traits, requiring food, sleep, and care like any other child. She displays symptoms consistent with high-functioning autism, requiring special attention from the Foundation’s childhood development specialist.

The most distinctive aspect of SCP-134’s condition is her starry eyes, which are actually linked to remote locations in deep space. These “termini” are estimated to be between two and twenty thousand meters apart, moving at speeds significantly faster than the speed of light. Periodically, these termini shift locations, although the cause remains unknown. Stella herself is unaware of her anomalous attributes and cannot see through her starry voids.

Stella is classified as Safe and is treated as a guest by the Foundation. She resides in a specially outfitted containment cell designed for her blindness, which contains various furnishings and toys to accommodate her needs. She receives regular tutoring in general education appropriate for her age and Braille. Despite her unique condition, Stella’s cooperation and behavior have been exemplary, making her an intriguing and enigmatic anomaly in the Foundation’s care.

48. Crystal’s Petrifying Contamination: SCP-409

SCP-409 nicknamed the “Contagious Crystal” is a large quartz crystal measuring approximately 1.5 meters (5 feet) in height and 0.6 meters (2 feet) in width. Objects or organisms that come into contact with SCP-409 will undergo crystallization after approximately three hours. This crystallization affects all materials except granite. The process spreads at a rate of about 2.5 centimeters (1 inch) per minute, covering the entire subject, both inside and out. Victims report excruciating pain, likened to frostbite. Once fully crystallized, the object or organism emits snapping and creaking noises for roughly twenty minutes before violently shattering into numerous fragments.

Furthermore, any object or being in contact with these fragments will also begin to crystallize. Regrettably, there is no known method to reverse this process in organic matter, even through amputation. Inorganic materials only crystallize within a few centimeters around the point of contact.

49. SCP-294: The Anomalous Liquid Generator

SCP-294, known as “The Coffee Machine,” is a remarkable and anomalous vending machine within the SCP Foundation’s possession. While it outwardly resembles a typical coffee dispenser, its capabilities extend far beyond brewing beverages.

This anomalous machine can produce any liquid substance requested on its QWERY keyboard, making it a versatile tool for research and containment efforts. The request must specify the desired liquid’s name, composition, and relevant details. SCP-294 can generate a wide range of liquids, from commonplace beverages like coffee and tea to exotic or hazardous substances. However, it is limited to liquids and cannot produce solid objects.

Despite its utility, access to SCP-294 is tightly controlled, and experiments are subject to rigorous protocols due to the potential for misuse or danger. The machine’s ability to create liquids that defy scientific understanding and produce lethal or anomalous substances underscores its enigmatic nature, prompting the SCP Foundation to carefully manage and monitor its use to maintain containment and safety.

50. SCP-999 – The Tickle Monster

SCP-999, affectionately nicknamed “The Tickle Monster,” is a highly unique and endearing entity within the SCP Foundation’s containment. Unlike many other SCPs, SCP-999 is not a source of fear or danger; instead, it is a friendly and playful creature.

SCP-999 resembles a large, orange, amorphous blob with a gelatinous consistency. Despite its unusual appearance, SCP-999 is incredibly gentle and non-hostile. What sets SCP-999 apart is its extraordinary ability to emit a soothing and empathetic aura. When in the presence of SCP-999, individuals experience an overwhelming sense of happiness and well-being. The entity is known for its playful behavior, often engaging in harmless pranks and games with Foundation personnel.
