Monstrous Manifestations: 50 of SCP’s Most Disturbing Entities

11. SCP-372 – Peripheral Jumper

SCP-372, designated “The Peripheral Jumper,” is an enigmatic entity known for its ability to lurk within the peripheral vision of sentient beings, rendering it exceedingly elusive and hard to directly observe.

Measuring approximately 2 meters in length and weighing around 45 kilograms, SCP-372 boasts a lithe, serpentine body with eight pairs of slender limbs. It is extraordinarily agile and it displays an unusual flexibility, while its limbs feature small fibers enabling it to cling to almost any solid surface. Curiously, SCP-372 lacks conventional eyes or ears and instead possesses an unique sensory organ. This organ serves multiple functions, including echolocation and the detection of energy transfers, such as electrical impulses in nearby beings’ brains. Through this specialized perception, SCP-372 anticipates the movements of individuals around it, using their brain activity to its advantage. The entity employs this technique to conceal itself by either positioning behind a person searching for it or by occupying their blind spots and taking advantage of their eye movements.

12. Deadly Enigma: SCP-354’s Blood Pond

SCP-354, also known as the “Blood Pond,” is a mysterious and dangerous anomaly located in northern Canada. This enigmatic pool appears to be composed of a thick, blood-like substance, but it is not of biological origin. The pool lacks well-defined banks, and its consistency changes as one goes deeper into it. To date, no one has reached the bottom of the pool.

What makes SCP-354 particularly hazardous is that it periodically releases hostile entities that attempt to escape the enclosure. These creatures pose a significant threat and are difficult to contain. The pool has been associated with local legends and was discovered by survivors of a plane crash in the past, leading to the establishment of Watch Station Epsilon-38 to monitor and safeguard the area.

One alarming incident occurred when an unidentified entity emerged from SCP-354, resulting in the loss of contact with Watch Station Epsilon-38. Mobile Task Force personnel were sent to confront this entity and ultimately succeeded, but all personnel at the watch station had perished. In response to these dangers, Area-354 was constructed to enhance containment and research efforts related to SCP-354, which remains a challenging and unpredictable anomaly.

13. SCP-122: Benevolent Beacon’s Protective Aura

SCP-122, known as ” no more monsters.,” is a unique nightlight resembling a star-shaped lamp manufactured between 1960 and 1980. Unlike traditional nightlights, SCP-122 possesses a remarkable ability to induce a sense of security, comfort, and tranquility within a radius of approximately 20 kilometers when powered. This effect can alleviate psychological conditions such as stress, paranoia, phobias, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder in individuals within its influence. However, these soothing effects only manifest when SCP-122 is located in the same room as a child under the age of 14 who follows the beliefs of traditional Abrahamic religions.

CP-122-1, a seven-year-old girl named Anna Talinn, is the current designated subject fulfilling the criteria for SCP-122’s calming influence. When placed in SCP-122’s containment cell, SCP-122-1 reports dreaming of an entity referred to as SCP-122-2, described as an “angel.” SCP-122-2 is associated with feelings of security and relief. SCP-122-2 has also occasionally appeared in the dreams of personnel affected by SCP-122, suggesting a positive connection between the entity and the nightlight’s effects.

The implementation of SCP-122 within Site-135 has significantly reduced personnel turnover rates by 90% and lowered suicide rates by 85%. The nightlight’s presence has become integral to maintaining the site’s operational stability. However, due to the degradation of SCP-122’s components over time and the unavailability of replacement materials, the nightlight is susceptible to fluctuations in brightness, including flickering and dimming, when it enters an unpowered state. SCP-122’s continued efficacy and maintenance remain a priority for Site-135, as its unique abilities significantly contribute to the well-being of personnel.

14. Concrete Horror: SCP-173’s Sinister Presence

SCP-173 is a profoundly unsettling and dangerous entity classified as Euclid. It is a humanoid statue made from concrete and rebar, measuring approximately 1.8 meters (about 6 feet) in height. Its appearance is grotesque and unnerving, with contorted limbs and a featureless, spherical head resembling a crude, unfinished face.

What makes SCP-173 particularly disturbing is its unique behavior. It can only move when it is not being directly observed by any living being. The moment visual contact is broken, even if just for an instant, SCP-173 becomes highly active and aggressive. It will move at an astonishing speed, often attacking and killing its victims by snapping their necks.

To prevent SCP-173 from causing harm, it requires constant surveillance by at least two individuals. These observers must maintain unbroken eye contact with it, taking turns blinking. The sense of dread and paranoia that accompanies this task is palpable, as the fear of a single lapse in attention can lead to deadly consequences.

The combination of SCP-173’s grotesque appearance, its unpredictable and deadly movements, and the constant vigilance required to contain it contribute to its status as one of the most iconic and creepy entities within the SCP Foundation universe.

15. SCP-895: Coffin of Nightmarish Effects

SCP-895, colloquially known as the “Camera Disruption,” is an anomalous oak coffin originating from a mortuary. It induces severe distortions and hallucinations in video and photographic surveillance equipment within its vicinity. This effect becomes increasingly distressing as the equipment gets closer to SCP-895, with individuals experiencing psychological trauma when within a 5-meter radius of the object. Remarkably, these distortions do not affect individuals physically present near the coffin. Due to the potential for severe psychological harm, SCP-895 is to remain sealed at all times.

16. SCP-165 – The Creeping, Hungry Sands

SCP-165, known as “The Creeping, Hungry Sands,” is a disturbing entity within the SCP Foundation. It is contained within Armed Bio-Containment Area-14 due to its highly contagious nature. SCP-165 consists of a massive colony of parasitic mites, each around 750 micrometers in length, resembling house dust mites but with a unique behavior. These mites attach grains of sand to their bodies, forming a colossal dune that contains hundreds of billions, possibly trillions, of individual Acari mites.

The Acari mites within SCP-165 exhibit competitive behavior, hunting for food primarily through chemical detection of carbon dioxide and sugars in the air. When they come into contact with living flesh, they release a numbing toxin in their bites, allowing them to swarm and devour their victims’ flesh rapidly. These swarms, resembling swirling vortexes around victims or their appendages, can de-flesh limbs down to the bone within minutes, facilitated by the

numbing toxin. SCP-165 is resistant to most pesticides but retreats from heat, making heat-based containment measures the most effective.

The acquisition of SCP-165 reveals that the US government had been aware of the dunes’ existence for nearly eight decades, with the entity’s presence linked to the deserted town of Fredricksburg, Arizona. During the late 1950s, the military attempted to exterminate SCP-165 by using the area as a bombing range, with some success in reducing the population.

17. SCP-1003: Humanoid Tapeworm Life Cycle

SCP-1003-1 is a tapeworm of the Echinococcus granulosus species, typically residing in the small intestines of carnivores, especially canids. In its natural life cycle, SCP-1003-1 lays eggs excreted through host feces, capable of survival for many years in the external environment. However, when these eggs are consumed by humans, the larvae hatched from them, known as SCP-1003-2, exhibit anomalous properties. Instead of developing into standard cysts, these larvae take on the appearance of human embryos.

Most SCP-1003-2 specimens do not survive the developmental phase, but those that do embed themselves in nutrient-rich tissue, accelerating their growth. They undergo an expedited human prenatal development, with their size and maturity quickly surpassing their chronological age. Around eight weeks after ingestion, they reach an apparent age of 10 months to 11 years, depending on the mass of the intermediate host. In extreme cases, with morbidly obese hosts, their apparent age can be as high as 13-15 years. The final stage involves SCP-1003-2 actively consuming the intermediate host from within using hooked teeth, after which they assume the appearance of a human child and exhibit human-like behavior and learning capabilities, despite no apparent means of acquiring such skills.

It’s noteworthy that SCP-1003’s anomalous properties solely manifest in humans. Testing with animals, such as cattle and sheep, common intermediate hosts for Echinococcus granulosus, has shown that the tapeworm’s life cycle remains normal and results in hydatid disease within the host animal.

18. The Bone Hive: SCP-439

SCP-439 is a bizarre parasitic insect of unknown origin, closely resembling a greyish, semi-translucent common earwig and measuring approximately 2.5 cm in length. This unique insect was first discovered in mainland China and has not been found elsewhere to date. Its alarming parasitic behavior occurs exclusively when it enters the mouth of a sleeping human. Once inside, it travels to a lung, triggering a sequence of painful events.

Within hours, the host experiences chest pain, breathing difficulties, and abdominal cramping, coupled with fever. Most notably, the victim undergoes rapid bone growth within muscles, leading to extreme agony. As new bone protrusions pierce the skin, the host seeks shelter in dark, enclosed spaces.

Over time, the host’s body radically transforms into a spherical “bone hive,” while the original Queen spawns thousands of offspring that assume various roles within the hive. Warriors, equipped with powerful abdominal forceps, pose a threat. The host’s interior is altered to sustain the colony, and after months, a new Queen emerges, initiating the hive’s self-destruction. This process concludes with the new Queen establishing her own hive, and the host’s hive eventually succumbs to starvation.

19. SCP-303: The Elusive Doorman Entity

SCP-303, known as “The Doorman,” is an enigmatic entity located at an undisclosed site. This Euclid-class anomaly takes the form of an emaciated, sexless humanoid with reddish-brown skin and a disproportionately large, tooth-filled mouth where its facial features should be. It emits a distinctive wheezing sound and continually seeks to conceal itself from direct visual contact.

SCP-303 employs a range of tactics to avoid being seen, including manifesting behind closed doors or barriers opposite a sentient observer. It ensures that only a fraction (less than 10%) of its body is visible at any given time and may create fog or frost effects on transparent surfaces to maintain its hidden status. When confronted, SCP-303 induces an intense, paralyzing fear in those who observe it, although it appears to do so unintentionally, similar to instinctual fears like arachnophobia.

This entity also possesses teleportation abilities and will dematerialize if there is no solid barrier or door obstructing direct line of sight, making it challenging to study or engage with.

20. SCP-058: Heart of Darkness

SCP-058, also known as the “Heart of Darkness,” is an enigmatic sentient entity resembling a bovine heart with multiple arthropod-like legs, tentacles, and a sharp stinger. It exhibits an insatiable desire for destruction, using its barbed tentacles with incredible speed and precision to wreak havoc on its surroundings. SCP-058’s mobility is exceptional, capable of swift movements on various surfaces and reaching speeds of up to 55 miles per hour.

Despite its destructive tendencies, SCP-058 possesses a perplexing aspect in its behavior. It constantly vocalizes in a human voice, resembling that of an elderly British male with a lisp. The entity speaks in a philosophical and existential tone, and it maintains a consistent tone and pace regardless of its actions or environment. Despite its sophisticated vocalizations, SCP-058’s actions remain chaotic and violent.

SCP-058’s origins and motivations remain shrouded in mystery. It has caused significant casualties and destruction within Foundation facilities and nearby towns, leading to multiple containment breaches. While it exhibits a certain level of intelligence in its speech, SCP-058 remains a highly unpredictable and dangerous anomaly, necessitating strict containment protocols and readiness to deploy on-site nuclear devices in the event of a breach. All attempts at interviewing or understanding the entity have thus far failed.
