2. In 1967, a 13-year-old Canadian girl named Maureen Mancuso ran the fastest marathon by a female, knocking more than four minutes off the previous world record. While running she was beaming and saying, “gee, this is great!" Two minutes after the race, a doctor declared that her heart rate had already returned to normal.

3. An airplane crashed into the Empire State Building in 1945. Among other damages, plane parts severed the cables for an elevator and the woman (Betty Lou Oliver) inside fell over 70 stories. She lived and holds the world record for the longest survived elevator fall.

On January 22, 1943, the temperature in Spearfish, South Dakota, changed from -4°F to 45°F in just two minutes, setting a world record. The temperature eventually rose to 54°F before dropping back to -4°F. This was caused by a Chinook wind, which caused this extreme temperature fluctuation in such a short amount of time.
