  1. Carmen Electra does not have hydrophobia. The correct word for the fear of water is aquaphobia. Hydrophobia is a term usually used only to mean rabies, because rabid animals tend to avoid drinking water.

  2. I had a terrible fear of scorpions as an adolescent. I lived (and still live) in the Upper Midwestern United States, which is scorpion-free. Yet, I would have nightmares about scorpions constantly, and would have to check under my bed and in both my bedroom closets every night. The phobia was intense when I was fourteen and fifteen, then vanished as abruptly as it had started. I expect those kinds of fears are part and parcel of many young teen’s lives.
