Isaac Asimov Declared Everest Unclimbable

On April 7, 1953, American science-fiction writer Isaac Asimov wrote "Everest," which declared climbing Mount Everest in the Himalayas impossible and sent a man named James Abram Robbons to the summit by airplane instead. Climbers successfully conquered Everest the following month, but Universe Science Fiction did not publish the story until December 1953. Asimov later used the seven-month delay as an example of his poor ability to predict the future.
