South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut repeatedly received an NC-17 rating from the MPAA because of its relentless profanity, with one widely cited tally counting 146 uses of "fuck." The ratings board warned that a script exceeding 400 swear words would receive an NC-17, so creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone stopped at exactly 399. After the MPAA returned an NC-17 rating five times, executive producer Scott Rudin intervened, and the board approved the film's original cut with an R rating.
