Canadian Juno Troops Volunteered Overseas

The Canadian troops who assaulted Juno Beach on D-Day had all volunteered, as Canada had no conscription for overseas deployment. More than 1.1 million Canadians served in the armed forces during World War II, representing roughly one-tenth of the country's population.
