NCDUs Blasted Eight Omaha Gaps

The Naval Combat Demolition Units of World War II eventually went on to become the Navy SEALs. Landing with the first assault waves on D-Day, the NCDUs blew eight complete gaps and two partial gaps through the German obstacles at Omaha Beach. At the less heavily defended Utah Beach, they cleared 700 yards within two hours and another 900 yards by the afternoon.
