American mobster Anthony "Gaspipe" Casso, a brutal Lucchese underboss who became an informant, was removed from the federal Witness Protection Program in 1998 after repeatedly breaking rules while in prison. Prosecutors cited infractions including bribing guards, assaulting inmates, associating with known felons, and making false statements. A federal judge later sentenced Casso to 455 years in prison without parole.
