Trojan Horse Absent From Iliad

The Trojan Horse does not appear at all in ancient Greek poet Homer's Iliad, which ends before the Trojan War concludes, while the Odyssey mentions it only briefly. Earlier Greek works such as the Little Iliad and Sack of Troy featured the story heavily but survive only in fragments and summaries. The most detailed and familiar surviving ancient version comes from Book II of the Aeneid, written by Roman poet Virgil in the 1st century BC, which describes the Greeks hiding inside the wooden horse, entering Troy, and opening its gates for their returning army.
