Maeno's Kamikaze Attack On Kodama

Maeno's Kamikaze Attack On Kodama

In March 1976, Japanese pornographic actor Mitsuyasu Maeno grew enraged after right-wing leader Yoshio Kodama became a central figure in Japan's Lockheed bribery scandal. Maeno had admired Kodama as an ultranationalist leader, but he believed Kodama betrayed the right wing and the samurai code by taking money from Lockheed. On March 23, 1976, Maeno rented a small plane near Tokyo, dressed as a kamikaze pilot, and flew it into Kodama's home in Setagaya. Maeno died in the crash, two servants were injured, and Kodama survived unharmed.
