The oldest organ donor in U.S. history was Dale Steele, a 100-year-old World War II veteran from Nebraska who died in 2026. Steele suffered a head injury in February, and after doctors placed him on life support, the Omaha-based organ procurement group Live On Nebraska asked his family about donating his liver. His family agreed, and doctors successfully transplanted the liver into another patient. The recipient recovered well enough to go home just five days after the operation.
