Fraudsters Starved On Stolen Yacht

Two British fraudsters stole a luxury yacht while fleeing police and were later found dead after apparently starving off the African coast. Peter Clarke, 49, and Sharon Arthurs-Chegini, 46, skipped bail in Britain after a 2005 yacht theft in Cornwall, then stole another yacht from Portugal in 2006 and sailed south. Fishermen found their badly decomposed bodies aboard the drifting yacht Skipper VII about 12 miles off the coast of Senegal on September 7, 2006. An inquest heard that the yacht had no fresh water or provisions, and Arthurs-Chegini’s diary said they had not eaten for four weeks.
