Li Jingwei's Memory Map Reunion

Li Jingwei's Memory Map Reunion

In 1989, a 4-year-old Chinese boy named Li Jingwei was kidnapped by a neighbor who lured him away by promising to show him cars, a rare sight in his rural village. Li never forgot the layout of his home village, even after growing up far from his birth family. At age 37, he drew a map from memory and posted it online, hoping someone would recognize the place. The map helped authorities identify the village and reunite Li with his family decades after his abduction.
