In the mid-2000s, Disney tried to secure the rights to use Harry Potter for theme park attractions. The deal fell apart because Disney would not give J.K. Rowling the level of creative control she wanted. Rowling then took the project to Universal Parks & Resorts, which accepted her terms and developed "The Wizarding World of Harry Potter."
