Marilyn Monroe Triggered Egyptian Ban

In 1956, Marilyn Monroe married American playwright Arthur Miller and converted to Judaism as part of joining his family. The conversion carried a political consequence overseas, because Egypt responded by banning all of Monroe’s films. The ban did not last permanently, and Egypt lifted it after Monroe and Miller finalized their divorce in 1961.
