British actress Judi Dench built her career on Shakespeare, starting with the Old Vic Company in 1957 and later working with the Royal Shakespeare Company. She has said her eyesight problems now make scripts harder to handle, but her memory still helps her hold on to the Shakespeare she performed for decades. In a 2024 interview about her book "Shakespeare: The Man Who Pays the Rent," Dench said she could still remember "A Midsummer Night’s Dream," "Twelfth Night," and a few sonnets, even when she could not remember what she did the day before.
