Aaliyah Kept Perfect Grades

American singer and actress Aaliyah graduated from the Detroit High School for the Fine and Performing Arts in 1997 while maintaining a perfect 4.0 GPA. Even as her music career grew, she said she did not want kids to think they could "just sing and forget about school." She contended that education was important because young performers required a backup plan.
