Harley Quinn did not start make her debut with DC comics at all. "Batman: The Animated Series" introduced her in 1992 as a one-off character, but she hit so hard with audiences that DC later pulled her into the main comic universe. Her creators nearly scrapped the idea until they cast American actor Arleen Sorkin and shaped Harley’s voice and vibe around a clown-like character Sorkin had played.
