Marston's Polygraph Thruple Shaped Wonder Woman

Marston's Polygraph Thruple Shaped Wonder Woman

American psychologist and inventor William Moulton Marston helped develop an early lie-detection method, and he later built Wonder Woman around a truth-forcing weapon that became the Lasso of Truth. He argued that women were emotionally superior and would ultimately make better rulers, and that belief shaped his whole Wonder Woman pitch as a hero who wins through love and submission instead of brute force. Marston also lived in a long-term thruple with his wife, psychologist Elizabeth Holloway Marston, and his former student and research assistant, Olive Byrne, from 1925 until his death in 1947. Early Wonder Woman comics also leaned heavily into bondage imagery and repeated restraint scenes, which multiple sources tie directly to Marston’s recurring dominance and submission themes.
