In 1833, a Swedish milk vendor named Pilt Carin Ersdotter arrived in Stockholm and began selling milk after being judged too weak for boat work. Her looks drew such huge crowds that people reportedly gathered just to stare at her, and one day the crush became so large that she had to flee into a nearby house. Authorities then arrested her for creating a traffic obstruction and for having "blocked the street with her beauty." Aristocratic families later paid to display her in their homes.
