Chevy Chase Banned From SNL

In 1997, actor Chevy Chase hit Saturday Night Live cast member Cheri Oteri in the back of the head while he hosted the show. The incident became the last straw for executive producer Lorne Michaels, who banned Chase from hosting again. The ban stuck even though Chase helped launch the show and hosted it repeatedly between 1978 and 1997. Chase remains the only former SNL cast member the show has banned from hosting.
