Piss shivers have a technical name, post-micturition convulsion syndrome (PMCS). The phenomenon refers to the brief, involuntary shiver some people experience during or immediately after urinating. Scientists believe it may happen because the autonomic nervous system switches control between its sympathetic and parasympathetic branches, which regulate bladder function and blood pressure. However, the reaction is not universal, meaning many people never experience it at all.
