Perfidy is the deceptive wartime tactic of pretending to surrender, feigning injury or death, or misusing protected symbols to lure and attack an enemy. The practice violates the laws of armed conflict because it abuses the trust granted under humanitarian protections during war. The Geneva Conventions and their Additional Protocols explicitly prohibit perfidy and classify it as a war crime.
