Sarah Jessica Parker Salem Ancestor

Actress Sarah Jessica Parker played the witch Sarah Sanderson in the 1993 film Hocus Pocus. Years later, she discovered that one of her ancestors, Esther Elwell, had been accused of witchcraft during the Salem witch trials in Massachusetts in 1692. Elwell was arrested and imprisoned during the hysteria that swept the colony. She was eventually released, unlike many others who were executed during the trials.
