In 1983 in Washington State, police nearly caught serial killer Gary Ridgway, later known as the Green River Killer, after a witness connected him to a missing victim. The boyfriend of one victim saw her get into a pickup truck shortly before she disappeared and later helped the girl’s father track the vehicle down the next day. The truck belonged to Gary Ridgway, who was questioned by police during the investigation. However, investigators lacked enough evidence to arrest the serial killer, allowing him to continue killing for years before his eventual capture in 2001.
