In June 1974, Ted Bundy abducted and murdered Georgann Hawkins, a University of Washington student who disappeared while walking through an alley near her Seattle apartment. Police quickly launched a large investigation and began searching the area for clues. The next morning, Bundy calmly returned to the scene while officers and investigators were still working nearby. Acting unnoticed, he entered an adjoining parking lot where Hawkins’s belongings had been left behind. He quietly retrieved her earrings and one shoe before leaving the area without attracting attention.
