Paul Newman Inspired Newman Day

At some US colleges, including Princeton and Yale, students created an unofficial holiday called "Newman Day," where they aim to drink 24 cans of beer in 24 hours. The tradition grew out of an apocryphal line attributed to Paul Newman about "24 hours in a day and 24 cans in a case." Students used the quote as a slogan for the binge-drinking challenge. Newman, who was an alcoholic, abhorred the holiday that used his name this way.
