Hypnotize Turns Biggie Funeral Celebration

Hypnotize Turns Biggie Funeral Celebration

In March 1997, during The Notorious B.I.G.'s funeral procession through the streets of Brooklyn, thousands of fans lined the sidewalks to say goodbye. As the hearse moved through his old neighborhood, someone suddenly blasted "Hypnotize" at full volume from a car. The crowd dropped the somber mood, started dancing, and rapped the lyrics back into the air. For a few minutes, the procession stopped feeling like a mourning and became a loud celebration of Biggie’s life instead.
