Spy Golfer Behind Waffle House

Spy Golfer Behind Waffle House

One of Waffle House’s co-founders, Tom Forkner, had previously served as a counterintelligence officer working with the Manhattan Project and was later inducted into the Georgia Golf Hall of Fame. In the 1950s, he teamed up with Joe Rogers Sr. to open the first Waffle House in Avondale Estates, Georgia. Forkner chose the name “Waffle House” because waffles had the highest profit margin on the menu.
