Ghost Pepper Contest Rips Esophagus

In 2016, a man ate a ghost pepper in an eating contest and drank six glasses of water to cool off, which triggered intense burning in his mouth and throat. He vomited so violently that he tore a hole in his esophagus, and when he was rushed to a hospital, doctors discovered his left lung had collapsed. He spent 23 days in the hospital and was sent home with a gastric tube.
