Laser-Made Color Olo Explained

Olo is a color that can only be seen via targeted lasers hitting certain color receptors in the human eye to avoid overlapping with other color receptors. This process lets the viewer see a blue-green of unprecedented saturation, and the same technology is now being investigated to help people with color blindness. In April 2025, scientists at UC Berkeley used a system called Oz to map individual cone cells and stimulate only the M cones with tiny laser pulses, creating this imaginary color outside the normal human gamut that only five test subjects have seen so far.
