In 2010, 17-year-old Tia Skinner from St. Clair County, Michigan, secretly recruited her 18-year-old boyfriend and his friend to attack her parents in their home. The teens entered the house at night and repeatedly stabbed Tim and Mary Skinner as they slept, killing her father and leaving her mother with critical injuries.
Investigators quickly tied the plot to Tia, arrested all three, and a jury convicted her of first-degree murder and conspiracy. She later tried to overturn her conviction by arguing that police interviewed her without parental consent, but the courts rejected her appeal and kept her life sentence in place.
