New Mexico's Murdered First Graduate

In 1893, the newly founded New Mexico College of Agriculture and Mechanic Arts, which would later become New Mexico State University, prepared to graduate its very first class. That class had only one student, a young man named Sam Steel, who represented the entire graduating cohort. Before he could receive his diploma, someone murdered Steel.
