In the early hours of January 3, 1972, Chicago contractor John Wayne Gacy met 16-year-old Timothy Jack McCoy at the Greyhound bus station and invited the Nebraska teenager home to his house in Norwood Park Township during a layover. Gacy later claimed he woke to find McCoy standing in his bedroom doorway holding a kitchen knife, fought with him in panic, and repeatedly stabbed him in the chest.
Afterward he noticed that McCoy had set out eggs, bacon, and a table for two, and realized the boy had been preparing breakfast and had only come to wake him while still holding the knife. Gacy buried McCoy in his crawl space and later told investigators that as he listened to the boy's dying "gurgulations," he experienced an involuntary orgasm and decided that killing was, for him, the ultimate thrill.
