In The Shawshank Redemption (1994), the scene where Morgan Freeman's character Red casually tosses a baseball in the prison yard took over nine hours to film. Freeman spent the entire day repeatedly throwing and catching the ball while the crew captured different angles, and he reportedly never complained once during the long shoot. He showed up the next day with his arm in a sling from the strain and still continued filming.
