Romeo Juliet Nude Lawsuit Dismissed

In Franco Zeffirelli's Romeo and Juliet (1968), teenage stars Olivia Hussey and Leonard Whiting later claimed they were misled into performing nude in the famous bedroom scene and sued Paramount decades afterward, alleging sexual exploitation and abuse. They argued that, as minors, they had not truly consented to how the scene showed their bodies and said the experience caused them emotional and mental harm. In May 2023, a Los Angeles Superior Court judge dismissed their lawsuit, ruling against them and leaving the film and its controversial scene legally intact.
