Project Eldest Son Sabotaged Ammo

During the Vietnam War, the U.S. government ran a secret sabotage program called Project Eldest Son that targeted Vietcong weapons. American operatives slipped thousands of doctored AK-47 and mortar rounds into enemy stockpiles, each rigged to explode in the gun and kill or maim the person firing it. At the same time, they leaked fake documents that cast doubt on quality control in Chinese munitions factories, so the Vietcong would blame bad Chinese ammo rather than deliberate tampering.
