Crypto Cruise Ship MS Satoshi

In October 2020, a group of libertarian cryptocurrency enthusiasts bought the cruise ship Pacific Dawn for about $9.5 million, renamed her MS Satoshi, and planned to anchor her off Panama as a floating city and tech hub where residents would buy cabins and spend Bitcoin in onboard businesses. The project quickly hit hard limits when the owners could not secure insurance for a permanent residential ship and realized they did not have enough money to keep such a large vessel running. By December 2020 they abandoned the plan and slated the ship for scrap, but a European cruise start-up later bought her, refitted her, and returned her to service as the cruise ship Ambience.
