Vietnam Fragging Of US Officers

Vietnam Fragging Of US Officers

During the Vietnam War, U.S. investigators looked into more than 800 cases in which enlisted soldiers tried to kill or actually killed their superior officers. The military coined the term "fragging" for these attacks because soldiers often used fragmentation grenades, which were hard to trace and could be made to look like combat accidents.

From 1969 to 1972 alone, documented and suspected fragging incidents with explosives in Vietnam totaled around 900, with dozens of deaths and many more injuries.
