The FBI's Deadly Informant Cover-Up

The FBI's Deadly Informant Cover-Up

In 1965, a gunman murdered Edward "Teddy" Deegan in Massachusetts. The FBI already knew that its informants Joseph Barboza and Vincent "Jimmy" Flemmi were plotting the hit, but agents did not intervene and later stayed quiet as prosecutors convicted Peter Limone, Joseph Salvati, Henry Tameleo, and Louis Greco for the murder. Tameleo and Greco died in prison. Decades later, newly released files helped clear the remaining men and exposed the Bureau's role in the miscarriage of justice.
