In 2008, Macedonian crime reporter Vlado Taneski wrote unusually detailed articles about the murders of elderly women. Police noticed his stories included facts they had not released and charged him after DNA was matched to semen found on the victims. Taneski was found dead the next day in a prison, where authorities said they found him dead in his cell, apparently having drowned in a bucket of water.
