In 2008, 23-year-old Florida State University student Rachel Hoffman was arrested for possessing cannabis. Police pressured her to work as a confidential informant to avoid charges, sending her to arrange a deal for 1,500 ecstasy pills, two ounces of cocaine, and two handguns. The sting operation went wrong when the suspects realized she was working with police. Hoffman was murdered during the failed deal.
