Malcolm Caldwell was a Scottish Marxist academic who was an outspoken supporter of the Khmer Rouge. He traveled to Cambodia in December 1978 and met with dictator Pol Pot to discuss the revolution and the future of the country. Hours after the meeting, armed men stormed the guesthouse where he was staying and shot him dead. The motive behind Caldwell's murder remains unclear to this day.
