In 1993, rapper Trevell "G. Dep" Coleman shot and killed a man. In 2010 he walked into a police station and confessed because the guilt weighed on him. Officers did not act, so he returned about two weeks later and confessed again. Investigators then matched his account to a cold case and charged him with murder. He was convicted in 2012 and sentenced to 15 years to life. His sentence was commuted in 2023, and he was released on parole in April 2024.
