Curtis Reeves' Popcorn Shooting

In 2014, retired Tampa police captain Curtis Reeves confronted a man named Chad Oulson over cellphone use at a movie theater. As the dispute escalated, Oulson threw popcorn at Reeves, and Reeves drew a handgun and fired, killing Oulson and injuring his wife. In 2022, a jury acquitted Reeves of murder, accepting his self-defense claim.
