Dave Gahan's Twice-Abandoned Childhood

English band Depeche Mode's future frontman, Dave Gahan, was only six months old when his Malaysian father, Len, walked out on the family in England. Nine years later, Len reappeared and visited the Gahan household regularly for about a year, raising hopes of reconciliation. Then, without warning, he vanished again, this time permanently, leaving young Dave to grow up without him.
