A Lone Marine's Last Stand

During the Battle of Tulagi on the Solomon Islands in August 1942, PFC Edward H. Ahrens of the U.S. Marines singlehandedly faced a group of Japanese soldiers in close combat. Before dying, he told his commander, "The bastards tried to come over me last night; I guess they didn't know I was a Marine."
