In July 2009, Josh Muszynski of New Hampshire bought a pack of cigarettes with his Visa debit card, only to find his account charged $23,148,855,308,184,500, or about 23 quadrillion dollars. The error appeared on his statement along with a $15 overdraft fee, instantly making him the world's most indebted smoker. Visa later confirmed it was a network processing glitch that briefly affected fewer than 200 transactions before being corrected.
