In 2009, gambler John Kane discovered a flaw in IGT's Game King video poker machines at casinos in Nevada. By pressing a specific sequence of buttons after a winning hand, he could trick the machine into replaying higher-value hands and collect inflated payouts. Kane and an accomplice earned at least half a million before being caught, but federal prosecutors lost the case after defense lawyers argued, "All these guys did is simply push a sequence of buttons that they were legally entitled to push."
